The need to respect the rich history and architecture of this religious building was a perfect match for galvanizing. Not just for the superior durability of galvanized steel but also for a beautiful aesthetic match. The natural color of aging galvanized steel meshes nicely with the traditional silver grey paint seen on almost all catholic churches in Quebec. The reality of todays economic limitations for parishes in Quebec made life-cycle cost a crucial point for their client. The difficult access to the steeple made periodic repainting a costly proposition and the long service life of hot-dip galvanizing was also very cost effective even if only initial cost was considered.
